Town of Del Norte to host Music in the Park

DEL NORTE— The Town of Del Norte will be hosting a new event this summer by offering a free summer concert series in North Park. Town Trustee Laura Anzalone approached the board a few months ago and requested a budget for the concert event. “They were more than gracious to help fund the event, and I really think that once the word gets out it will be a successful event,” said Anzalone.

Anzalone stated that though the town is in the midst of trying to revitalize town parks, the downtown area and some of the streets, they also wanted to utilize what they already had access to. “We have this wonderful stage that barely ever gets used and this is a way for us to use what we already have.”
The concerts will start on Thursday, May 30 at 6 p.m. with the band Ol’ Scratch. “We are going to do five Thursdays and see how things go. We would really like to bring the community together for this event. We have so many other things going on that are geared towards tourism. We wanted this to be something for the locals, a chance for people to come out and get to know their neighbors.”
Anzalone, along with the high school art class, have worked together to begin beautifying the town, starting with the bathroom at North Park. “The art teacher, Gina Randolph, approached me and asked if it would be possible for the students to do a mural on the bathroom there at the park. I thought it was a great way to start beautifying the town, once again using what we have access to. The students did an amazing job. The town was happy to grant them permission and I hope we can do other things in the future,” said Anzalone.
The schedule for Music in the Park is as follows: June 6 will feature The Rifters; June 13 will be The Bent Ears; June 20 welcomes the Roundhouse Assembly, and June 27 will be Dane Arnold & The Soup. Come out and enjoy an evening of community fun, great music and summer!
