Kenneth George Teunis, 94, of Creede, Colo., passed away peacefully on Aug. 10, 2024. Born on June 3, 1930, in Grand Rapids, Mich., Kenneth was a man whose warmth and friendliness touched the lives of many.

Kenneth's journey led him from the place of his birth, through California, and to the scenic expanses of Creede, where he embraced the community and its natural beauty. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Barbara Teunis, and a loving father to his son, Tony Teunis. His legacy extends through the lives of his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the memories of his kindness and his spirited approach to life.

A man of intellect and curiosity, Kenneth earned a degree in structural engineering, a field in which he excelled and contributed significantly throughout his career. His love for learning and innovation was evident in his personal passions as well.

Kenneth was an avid outdoorsman; he found solace and joy in the serene art of fly fishing and the excitement of the hunt. In his younger years, Kenneth's athletic prowess was showcased on the tennis courts where he competed nationally, and his rhythmic steps could be seen as he square danced with Barbara, the love of his life.

Kenneth's interests were diverse, and his skills varied. He was certified in Ham radio operations, and he dedicated his time to disaster training using the radio, ensuring he was ready to serve others in times of need. His voice was a familiar and cherished presence in the Emmanual Chapel choir in South Fork, where he was a faithful member.

A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, at the Emmanuel Chapel in South Fork.
