Town of Del Norte announces response to COVID-19

For health and safety of our Employees and Community, unprecedented changes in Town operations effective Wednesday, March 18, 2020, tentatively through Wednesday, May 13, 2020, longer if needed.

DEL NORTE  — Beginning March 18, 2020, The Town of Del Norte is canceling all nonessential, non-government meetings, and has Closed Town Offices to the Public on a rolling basis to limit exposure and slow the transmission of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus.
The measure is one of a series of steps taken Tuesday by Trustees of the Town of Del Norte to protect the Del Norte community and Town workforce – including a declaration of local emergency that allows for greater flexibility in the deployment of Town employees, and acquisition of needed equipment, supplies and other resources.
Other steps include operational changes and closures of Town facilities to limit person-to-person spread of the virus. These changes include but may not be limited to; consolidation of in-person business transaction activity at Town Hall; shifting nonessential services to telephone-only; and maybe a reduction of hours for various departments.
Town Administrator also (Designation Election Official) is doing everything in her power to make sure the Town Election April 7, 2020, is safe for Voters and Election judges. Town Hall 140 Spruce Street Polling Place will be sanitized before doors open at 7 a.m. on Election Day and throughout the day. Social distancing will be enforced. Absentee Ballot application will be accepted until March 27, 2020. Registered votes, at risk adults, and those with comprised immune systems are encouraged to call Town Hall to make an appointment for application for Absentee Ballot application.
The only events that will still take place are the Del Norte Municipal Election on April 7, 2020, at Town Hall and the Del Norte Town Clean-up day April 24, 2020.
