DEL NORTE – Del Norte Bank recently announced Lane Spearman as its 2024 scholarship winner. The total award is $4,000 at $500 per semester for a 4-year college.
The winner was chosen based on academic achievement, community involvement and overall character. Applicants were also asked to write an essay regarding how they, as an individual, have made or can make a positive impact in the community they live in.
Spearman has always had a passion for learning new skills. Some of his interests include leatherworking, welding, working cattle and riding the range on his horse, Goldie. When he is not farming and ranching on the weekends and summers with his mentor, Jake Pargin, he is usually working on vehicles or motorcycles, hunting or fishing.
Spearman has a great appreciation for production agriculture and would like to pursue a career in farming and ranching. He will be attending West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas, this fall to study Agribusiness.
