Scott Honeycutt is candidate for HD 62

Staff Report
ALAMOSA — God, family, and country.
Those are the top three priorities for HD 62 Republican candidate Scott Honeycutt. As a native of Alamosa, Honeycutt is committed to doing what he can to serve the people of southern Colorado.
Honeycutt has several key issues that he is focusing on in the race. They include education, water, and the Second Amendment. As a bus driver for the Alamosa School District, Honeycutt has heard firsthand about the challenges that students and teachers face. The consensus among teachers he has heard from seems to be that there is a need for smaller class sizes and better salaries. A key piece for students is providing better options for vocational training for those who may not attend college. He believes in giving schools the resources that they need to help students be successful.
As for the Second Amendment, Honeycutt is a firm believer that the Founding Fathers established it for good reason, and that is to keep law-abiding citizens safe. He is also a strong Pro-Life advocate.
When it comes to the subject of water, Honeycutt admits that he has a lot to learn. He is however, consulting those in the water community who do have expertise and working to expand his knowledge. He also recognizes that keeping agriculture intact is vital for the San Luis Valley and beyond. He hopes to play a role in helping to keep land and water together and helping farms to stay in production. Honeycutt currently serves on the Costilla Ditch Board.
Overall, Honeycutt wants to do his part, and hopes to have the opportunity to be a strong advocate for southern Colorado. He is also grateful to his family for the tremendous amount of support they have given him.
“Rural Colorado has to be heard,” he says. He is more than willing to stand up and be that voice.
