School supply drive underway

SAN LUIS VALLEY — La Puente’s Outreach Services is now holding its ninth annual backpack drive to gather school supplies for children in kindergarten through 12th grade and needs the public’s help.
A simple monetary donation of $5 can fill a backpack with the essential items children need to be successful. During the drive
Outreach Services will also be collecting donations of backpacks, pencils, blue and black pens, lined paper, rulers, folders, notebooks, crayons, and colored pencils. Those who have any school supplies to contribute, please feel free to drop them off at the Outreach Services Office, located at 929 State Ave. in Alamosa or contact the office to pick them up.
Please help reach our goal of 700 backpacks so that children can attend school with the tools they need to be successful students. Outreach Services will personally distribute backpacks, filled with schools supplies, in three locations throughout the Valley.
For information, please call Callie Adams at 719-587-3781 ext. 213. Distribution of backpacks will take place on Friday, Aug. 17.
Dates, places, and times will be announced one week prior to distribution.
