DEL NORTE– In an announcement made on March 6, Del Norte School Superintendent Chris Burr stated that there will be a public meeting to release preliminary plans for the new school on Tuesday, March 13 at 6 p.m. in the Del Norte Tiger Field House.
Burr and the design advisement group (DAG) met on Monday, March 5 to discuss the preliminary plans and to pick a date to release it to the public. The release of the plans to the public was delayed because the first school design put the budget about $5 million over. The DAG and Burr spent the last several weeks redesigning the sports facility included in the new school design and was able to come up with a final plan that was approved on Monday.
The plans for the new school have been underway for several months and the community of Del Norte is eager to get a glimpse of the new facility. According to Burr the plans are to have one large building that will house grades kindergarten through 12, though the different classes will be in separate corridors within the same building.
The design group will have a presentation prepared for the public who attend the meeting that will include a time for questions and public input. School officials hope to also have a 3D rendering of the plans prepared in time for the meeting and look forward to gaining the public’s perspective of the proposed plans.
