DEL NORTE—Residents and business owners have spent the last several weeks participating in a competitive contest vying for the top spot in the annual Scarecrow Bash.
With 15 residential participants vying for the prize, three scarecrows were chosen as winners: Bert & Roxanne Garcia at 435 Columbia Ave., The Barbosas at 540 Alder St. and Kathryn & Leroy Trujillo at 410 7th St.
In the business category, 20 competitors took part in the 2018 contest: Beauty Max, Boogie’s, DN Public Library, The Columbine, Rio Grande Pharmacy, Three Barrel, Kristi Mountain Sports, NAPA, Rio Grande Hospital, Kathy’s Fabric Trunk, Edward Jones Investments, Linda Robinson Bookkeeping, Del Norte Bank, Ken’s Service Center, Family Dollar, Wild West, The Windsor Hotel, River Valley Inn Nursing Home, Haefeli’s Honey and the High Valley Community Center. Winners were Kristi Mountain Sports, Napa and Del Norte Bank.
The winning displays were chosen for creativity and voted on by the fellow residents.
The Del Norte Chamber will now turn its attention to the coming Christmas holiday and the annual parade of lights. The parade will take place on Friday, Dec. 7 at 6:30 p.m. with a fireworks display following the parade. For more information, please visit www.delnortechamber.org or call 657-9081.
