RIO GRANDE COUNTY- According to Rio Grande County Sheriff’s Victim Advocate Courtney Arthur the department received a donation from the local church group Circle of Friends South Fork for the Toys for Tots donation collecting program. Rio Grande County Sheriff’s Department has been collecting toys for the organization and the church group reached out wanting to help.
Circle of Friends South Fork donated $200 to Toys for Tots and an additional $200 to the San Luis Valley Children’s Advocacy Center. Toys purchased from the funds donated will be going to local children and to aid the SLV Children’s Advocacy Center in various ways.
The department is continuing to collect donations for the Toys for Tots cause and have a donation site at the sheriff’s office in Del Norte. Those wishing to donate can bring an unwrapped toy to the department and help a child in need. The donation box will be available until just before the Christmas holiday.
