Paula, J. Prentice 72

ALAMOSA—Paula, J. Prentice 72, passed away May 29, 2017 in Alamosa with family by her side.
Henry Prentice and May Koch Prentice welcomed Paula into their loving home after her birth, Jan. 22, 1945.
Paula attended Sargent School. She was very active in the ski club and National Honor Society. She loved riding horses; she became active in the Las Cacinia (horse exhibition group). Paula attended Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo. and Colorado State in Fort Collins, Colo. She got a degree as a lab technician, which came invaluable when she worked the Health Fair in Monte Vista.
Paula spent many of her years in North Carolina, at a guest ranch and ski area in Maggie Valley. While she was there, she taught skiing and helped out on trial rides, cooking and anything the ranch needed help with. She tried her hand at hang gliding.
She returned to the Valley to start her own little business raising vegetables on the corners of the farm and selling them. She helped with some of the farm work and worked on keeping the books for the farm throughout her years of living on the farm. Paula worked at the school in Monte Vista as the secretary, for Harvey Sullivan.
She will be sadly missed by her brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Carolyn Prentice of Monte Vista, nieces, nephews, cousins and her great friends at The Bridge in Alamosa and all the lives she touched throughout her years.
Memorial services were held at Strohmayer’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 6, as well as a brief service at The Bridge in Alamosa on Tuesday. Services are under the direction of Strohmayer’s Funeral Home.
