Mildred Marie ‘Millie’ Lockhart, 90


ALAMOSA— Monte Vista resident Mildred Marie “Millie” Lockhart passed away at San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in Alamosa, Colo. on Dec. 3, 2018. Millie was born Sept. 26, 1928 in North Platte, Neb. to Clyde and Lavina Pease.
Millie spent most of her younger years in North Platte where she helped her parents run a diner known as Mom and Pop’s Playhouse. After moving around Nebraska and Wyoming, Millie and her parents finally relocated in Denver. She graduated from South High School near Denver University in 1947. Upon her graduation from high school, Millie attended Colorado State University with aspirations of becoming a journalist. Not long after her arrival at CSU, Mille met Al Lockhart and they were married on Jan. 1, 1950.
She thoroughly enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to several bridge clubs over the years. She liked to play other card games and board games as well. She loved her many pet dogs— Labradors Toro and Argus, Scottish Terrier Sparky and her Shih-Tzu Tuffie. Millie was an avid TV watcher. She was a fan of daytime and prime time TV, especially the long running soap opera “As the World Turns.” Her favorite game shows were Match Game, The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. She enjoyed Peter Falk in Columbo and Dick Van Dyke in Diagnosis Murder. In the 1970s Millie learned to play golf. She enjoyed the game with her husband Al and many friends for over 30 years.
She enjoyed the music of Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams, Nat King Cole, and Eddie Arnold. Every once and while you might just hear her humming one of their tunes.
Millie was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Monte Vista where she attended faithfully until recent years. She was a member of the Monte Vista Hospital Auxiliary and did volunteer work there. She helped her husband Al run Lockhart’s Furniture for many years.
Millie is survived by her sons Tom (Sandi) Lockhart of Canon City; Mel (Sara) Lockhart of San Diego and Patrick (Julie) Lockhart of Granby. She is survived by her grandchildren Lisa Wofford; Crystal (Todd) Thompson; Charity (Clark) Geoffrey; Leah Lockhart; Michael Lockhart and Jeff (Ashley) Lockhart and seven great grandchildren as well as numerous extended family members.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Al and daughter Joyce.
Cremation was chosen by the family. Please no flowers. A memorial service will be held at Colorado State Veterans Center, Homelake, in the Chapel on Friday, May 31, at 2 p.m.
