Hello, town of Del Norte! The Del Norte Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce that we will be hosting this year’s Tour of Lights, the Parade of Lights re-imagined. Instead of watching the parade, we all will have the opportunity to be the parade. We all could use some holiday cheer and due to COVID, we want to make sure our community stays safe. We want to avoid large gatherings of people, so our solution is to tour the town by car. The Tour of Lights will take place on Friday, Dec. 18. At 6 p.m. Santa will lead a parade of cars throughout Del Norte to look at residential and business lights. The parade will conclude with fireworks at 7 p.m. shot off from D-Mountain.

In order to make this event special, we need your help. We would like as many people as possible to participate, showing the holiday spirit by decorating your homes and businesses as well as your cars! Our goal is to have the entire town lit up. The Chamber recognizes the amount of effort it takes to decorate and participate in the parade, so we have some prizes to give to participants. For those interested in participating in the business or home decorations, we ask that you please have your decorations up by the night of Wednesday, Dec. 16, as members of the chamber will drive around town and record the homes/businesses who are participating. Car decorations must be complete by Friday, Dec. 18, and will be judged the same evening. You do not have to decorate your car to join us in the parade, but it is encouraged. Let’s make this the best town event yet; help your neighbor, reach out to the Chamber for questions and be creative. We look forward to seeing all of your decorations.

Where: Upper Rio Grande School Bus Garage (1150 French Street), town of Del Norte
Time: 5:30 p.m. meet up, tour starts at 6 p.m., fireworks at 7 p.m.
Prizes: 1st and 2nd place prizes awarded to best home or business decorations; $500 and $250 respectively. 1st place prize of $100 awarded to best car decoration.
