Judy Delaine Lujan,

MONTE VISTA— Longtime Monte Vista resident Judy Delaine Lujan, 65, passed away on June 19, 2019.  
She was born on Dec. 28, 1953 in Del Norte to Joe Ross and Bertha Manuelita Cordero Sandoval.  Judy graduated from Adams State College in 1990 with a B.A. in English and was one of 15 people selected to participated in graduate level course work through both Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University’s School of Public Health through the MIT community Fellowship Project. Judy received the Excellence in Practice Award from the State of Colorado. She worked for many years as an adolescent health educator with Valley-Wide Health Services’ Adolescent Health Program.
Judy enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching the Broncos or going to the games, when she was in Denver.  She was an advocate for children and helped many get into college or to at the least graduate from high school.
Judy is survived by her son Scott (Cathleen) Lujan of Monte Vista; her grandchildren, Andrew Martinez, Dakota Lujan and Hunter Lujan, Gina Martinez and Skylar Lujan; her siblings, Leonard (Edie) Sandoval, Jake Sandoval, John (Pat) Cordero, Paul (Norma) Cordero, Louise (Dean) Sisneros, Joyce (Henry) Vigil and Leon (Maggie) Roybal.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jose Leopoldo David “David Lee” Lujan.
Cremation was selected and a Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday June 28 at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Del Norte, a vigil service with recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, also at the church.
