Giving season peaks for angels from all angles

With drop boxes at Jack’s Market in Del Norte and several other locations, the SLV Ministerial Alliance toy and food distribution drive is in full swing for 2018.

DEL NORTE— Although charitable giving rises during the holiday season, providers share the task year-round. In Del Norte, the Ministerial Alliance and High Valley Community Center are two of many organizations providing food, clothing and toys this month.
On Dec. 22, the Del Norte Ministerial Alliance will hosts its annual toy and canned-good distribution event from 9 a.m. to noon at the Rio Grande County Annex Building in Del Norte. The give-away will last as long as supplies last. The Del Norte Ministerial Alliance is a collaboration joining four churches in the community.
HVCC delivers baskets with food and toys to more than 16 families every year, and the youth center was still seeking donations a week before Christmas Eve. These baskets contain holiday-related food items for families and elderly residents in the area. Each food basket is estimated to cost $52 with gifts for children in the family, including those not yet in school.
To donate money, holiday food-related items and gifts for any age range, visit HVCC at 595 Grand Ave. in Del Norte. If you have any questions, call 657-2172.
