Donations needed to paint Lookout Mountain ‘D’

DEL NORTE— The Knights of Columbus of the Holy Name of Mary Church has received permission from the Del Norte Town Council to coordinate the painting of the “D” on Lookout Mountain this summer.
The “D” is in serious need of a new coat of paint. It has been determined that the job will require approximately 50-55 gallons of bright white highway striping paint. The Knights of Columbus have found a source that will provide them with the paint needed at a reasonable price.
Del Norte School Superintendent Chris Burr said the district is in full support of this project; they will arrange for the labor (staff and students) after the money is raised to purchase the paint.
The K of C are seeking donations from interested businesses, organizations and town citizens to raise the $700 needed for the paint and another $100 to $300 for supplies yet to be determined.
Donations can be made beginning Wednesday, Aug. 8. Donations (of any amount) can be dropped off at the Del Norte Bank to be deposited in the “Paint for the “D” account. The plan is get the “D” painted by early September.
