Winter Wonderland: Gift of Reading

DEL NORTE - On Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020, over 200 people, including students and their families joined Del Norte Elementary staff for an evening to celebrate literacy. Participants were able to enjoy a meal together in the new Rio Grande Bistro at the Upper Rio Grande School District’s Cafeteria.
Upper Rio Grande School Board of Education members Neal Walters, Bridget Kreutzer, Veronica Climie, and Keith Brown joined district administers in reading aloud to the elementary students. Families experienced learning in the new building. After the books were read, students made a craft with their family members and then teachers handed out books to each student.
Del Norte Elementary School principal, Amy Duda explained that one of the main goals at Del Norte Elementary is making sure students are enjoying literature. Del Norte Elementary also wants to ensure all students have access to books at home.
