Daniel (Danny) Carl Burns

MONTE VISTA— The world lost a great man, our hero—Daniel (Danny) Carl Burns—on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018 at the age of 68, surrounded by love from his four girls.
Danny was born on March 1, 1950 in Watonga, Okla. to Gladys and Doyle Burns who have since passed. He spent his childhood at the Trinchera Ranch in Blanca, Colo. and his early teen years in Monte Vista. He then moved with his parents to Springfield, Va., where he graduated from Annandale High School. He attended Southwestern Oklahoma University, where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
After college, he returned to Monte Vista where he married Karla Jean Miner, with whom he celebrated 44 years of marriage. Together they shared two daughters and a granddaughter.
Danny owned and operated Burns Pharmacy in Monte Vista for nearly 30 years. He remained in town through retirement enjoying life with his beloved wife and his beautiful river property as well as winters in sunny Arizona.
He is survived by his loving wife Karla, his daughters Stacey and Tamara, his granddaughter Thiery, as well as his sisters Karen and Sharen and his brother Sam.
Danny loved spending time with his family, working on his river property, water skiing, and so much more. He loved people and he loved making them laugh.
The family has planned a loving commemoration on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Sargent Community Church. All who knew Danny are welcome to attend and share their love of this special man. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make a donation in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, as saving lives of children with cancer was close to his heart.
